September 30 to October 3, 2025 “Invasive Alien Species in a Changing Climate: Challenges for Ecosystem Resilience.

From September 30 to October 3, 2025, the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest (USAMV) will host the international conference “Invasive Alien Species in a Changing Climate: Challenges for Ecosystem Resilience.” This high-level event brings together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to address the urgent issue of invasive alien species (IAS) in the face of global climate change.

The conference is jointly organized with ESENIAS – East and South European Network for Invasive Alien Species and DIAS – Danube Region Invasive Alien Species Network, two major regional platforms dedicated to understanding and mitigating the impact of biological invasions.

Key Scientific Topics

The event will feature presentations and discussions on a wide range of pressing topics, including:

  • Traits and trends of invasive alien species
  • Vectors and pathways for IAS introduction
  • The Danube River as a corridor for invasive species
  • Ecological and economic impacts of IAS
  • Prevention and management strategies
  • Data sharing and IAS information systems
  • Other related subjects

A Platform for Regional Collaboration

This conference offers a vital platform for exchanging knowledge, strengthening collaborative networks, and shaping regional strategies to protect ecosystems and biodiversity. As climate change accelerates the spread of invasive species, regional cooperation and science-based responses become increasingly critical.

Organizers warmly invite researchers, decision-makers, and stakeholders to join the conversation, share insights, and contribute to building more resilient ecosystems in a rapidly changing climate.
